Christmas Food Baskets - 2011
It’s that time of the year again - Christmas Food Baskets (they are really boxes). This year’s schedule is a jam packed weekend of fun and personal reward. Here are the dates to know:
NOTE THIS SCHEDULE HAS BEEN CHANGED:
- Friday, December 16 at 6 pm - packing of boxes in the hall - this takes less than an hour to do - bring the whole family.
- Saturday, December 17 beginning around 8:30 am - delivery of the boxes. We give you a list of addresses, within a neighborhood and boxes. Get a friend, one drive the other deliver to the recipients’ door.
Sunday, December 25 help with Christmas Day dinner for the needy or lonely. If you haven’t volunteered for any of these events before – come this year it’s always a fun and very rewarding time. We will have three shifts this year - one for setup, one for serving and one for clean-up. No matter which shift you take your time is going to helping those in your community.
For more information on each of these events, please contact Amy Potts at bulletin@milfordelks.com
Christmas Food Baskets - 2010
Every year we raise funds to buy, pack, and deliver food baskets to the less fortunate in our community. Last year (click to see pictures) we delivered 225 boxes. Hear us on MilfordRadio.com (December 15, 2010) or a quick video clip of us on MilfordPatch.com.
The contents of each Basket consist of a canned ham, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, bread, canned goods, and many other food staples. Each Food Basket offers complete meals designed to feed a family of 4 for two to three days.
Christmas Day Dinner - Was Served on Saturday December 25 Thanks to about 70 volunteers, who took time out of their Christmas Day, we served a hot dinner (turkey, ham, pork roast, mashed potatoes, veggies, salad, and dessert) to seniors, those alone, those on hard times, and Basket recipients. Special thanks goes out to Dee’s Deli (on New Haven Avenue) for their donations and extra hard work.
